First Kalaloch Beach clam dig since 2012

For the first time since 2012, the beaches at Kalaloch will open this Sunday and Monday for a two-day razor clam dig.

Kalaloch Beach extends from the South Beach Campground to Brown’s Point (just south of Beach Trail 3) in the Olympic National Park.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced the Kalaoch digs for Jan. 8-9, with a 3:11 p.m low tide of . 0.4 feet on Sunday, and a 4:08 p.m. -0.4 feet low tide for Monday.

Under state law, diggers at open beaches can take 15 razor clams per day and are required to keep the first 15 they dig. Each digger’s clams must be kept in a separate container.

All diggers age 15 or older must have an applicable 2016-17 fishing license to harvest razor clams on any beach, available on WDFW’s website at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov and through local vendors.
