Scouts pay special visit to North Beach PAWS

Proceeds of cookie sales help animal shelter

Girl Scouts Troop 41006 paid a special visit to North Beach PAWS on May 30.

The girls had decided to buy and donate items needed for the animal shelter with the proceeds they raised from selling Girl Scout cookies this year.

The group consisted of about 15 who received a tour of the facility by Bert Langley, Dog House manager. Items donated were a much-needed drill with set of drill bits for the dog house, two hoses, dog shampoos, toys and treats for both the cats and dogs, and beautiful scratching posts for the kitties in the cat house.

“Many thanks from North Beach PAWS and all the cats and dogs who will benefit from these very thoughtful gifts,” said Lorna Valdez, PAWS president and founder. “What a wonderful way to give back to the Community. We really appreciate your kindness and commend you for being so generous with all of your hard-earned money.”

Also last month, Debbie McDuffy donated several handmade quilts to North Beach PAWS on her Birthday (May 23rd). They were made by her mother Sheila McDuffy, and requested by Debbie to be her Birthday present this year.

“Every dog that is taken in and adopted out by PAWS will be receiving one of these beautiful quilts for their own personal blankie to sleep on while they are at our shelter and as a gift to take home with their new adoptive owners,” Valdez said. ”What a selfless sweet gift by Debbie, and a labor of love for the animals by her mother Sheila.”
