Calendar: Heritage Fair, Seabrook concerts, August events

Event to benefit Museum of the North Beach with special celebration of the life of Gene Woodwick

The Museum of the North Beach will be hosting its third annual Heritage Fair from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Ocean Shores Convention Center.

This year’s “Celebration of Life, Art and History” highlights the historical life of prolific writer and story teller Gene Woodwick, who was instrumental in the creation of the Coastal Interpretive Center in Ocean Shores. “Her indomitable spirit inspired all who gathered around her for her treasured stories.” Many of her personal items and photographs will be on display. Dann Sears from the Aberdeen Museum of History is guest speaker.

The Heritage Fair features a live and silent auction, with many artistic, decorative and collectible items up for bid. The auctions are specifically for the New Museum Building Project. Other highlights include a catered buffet and a no-host bar. Entertainment will be provided by pianist Donovan Scott.

The live auction will be conducted by professional auctioneer John Fox. A featured item in the live auction is an exceptional Elton Bennett matted and framed serigraph titled, “Sea Birds Cry” valued at $1,500.

Tickets are $35 and are available at the Visitor Center in the Ocean Shores Convention Center or at the Museum of the North Beach.

For more information call the Museum at (360) 276-4441 or email lee@moclips.org.

Seabrook summer concerts

First held in August 2015, the Seabrook Summer Concert series this year is held at 7:30 p.m. each Friday in August. Seabrook’s Sunset Amphitheater will host the series, giving concertgoers views of sky, sea and the town itself.

The series continues this week (Aug. 4) with Portland-area folk band, Fox and Bones, just back from a European tour and currently on a nationwide tour.

Aug. 11 features Shannon DeLong, who recently brought her acoustic sound to the Pacific Northwest by way of New Zealand. She will be followed by Portland indie artist Redwood Son on Aug. 18.

Local favorite Ericka Corban plays on Aug. 25.

Concert attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, and the town’s shops and restaurants are all located nearby and will be open.

Quinault Craft Fair

The Lake Quinault Community Circle will host a Craft Fair and Bake Sale on Sunday, Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held in Amanda Park on Highway 101 just north of Lake Quinault. Artists and craftsmen from around the Olympic Peninsula will display a variety of hand- crafted jewelry, woodwork, arts, photography, gifts and crafts reflective of the Pacific Northwest culture.

Fresh herbs, produce, honey and home-made baked goods will also be for sale. Live music will entertain attendees as well. This event is one of many planned by the Lake Quinault Community Circle, a group of volunteers dedicated to helping neighbors in need and bringing people together for friendship, socializing and fun.
