Garden by the Sea begins 9th growing season

C9munity Garden in Ocean Shores

Come grow with us.

Another Growing Season is almost upon us here at The Garden by the Sea, a Community Garden. We will have open enrollment for garden plots on Saturday March 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., located at 824 Ocean Shores Blvd. behind the Galilean Retreat Center rain or shine. Well if it does rain, the Galilean Lutheran Church, which has been one of our major sponsors for the last eight years, will let us use their hall to stay dry and sign up everyone!

One of the most gratifying things you can do for yourself and your family is to grow your own vegetables instead of buying them at the super market. Fresher is better for you. They are not picked and trucked hundreds of miles from another state or country. They are free of insecticides and you grow them yourself. Some of the vegetables that are so easy to grow out here by the ocean are any variety of lettuces, all varieties of Kale, radishes, peas, string beans, celery, carrots, tomatoes, Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, zucchini, spinach, pumpkins, and beautiful flowers for your home or office. It is more fun then work and a very relaxing environment to be in.

This will be our 9th growing season! We invite our returning gardeners, newcomers and those interested in contributing in a meaningful way to our community. Enjoy some cookies and lemonade while learning about soil, pests and some helpful planting tips from some of our Grays Harbor Master Gardeners who will be on hand. We will have lots of seeds and starter plants available for a very small donation.

Our volunteer leadership team will be there to assist you with a 2017 garden orientation, plot sign-up, volunteer sign-up, tours and a schedule of upcoming events.

This year we will have our Annual Kids Art Program “Paint Out” sponsored by Associated Arts Ocean Shores, Master Gardener Plant Clinics and Lectures and a garden picnic. Dates will be available on March 25.

The Garden by the Sea looks forward to your participation and contribution to one of the most beautiful and empowering opportunities in Ocean Shores. For information, (360) 593-8720 or go to our website: www.gardenbytheseaoceanshores.org
