Youth Fishing Derby on Duck Lake set for May 13

Register at North Bay Park, boats available

The tenth annual Ocean Shores Youth Fishing Derby, sponsored by the Ocean Shores Elks Lodge, will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday May 13 at North Bay Park (across the street from the Ocean Shores Airport). The Derby is open to kids 17 and under. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. the day of the event. Free T-shirts will be handed out to each registered participant (while supplies last). There are no entry fees.

Participants (who so choose) will be assigned a boat and guide, if available. Children must be 5 years or older to fish from the boats. Due to limited space, only one parent will be allowed on each boat. A trout fishing pond will be provided on shore for younger participants. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded for the longest lake fish caught in age groups of 5-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14 -17.

Ocean Shores Pirates are expected to make an appearance, and the Ocean Shores IGA will be serving lunch to children, guardians and volunteers, starting at noon, followed by awards presentations.
