Oyhut Bay hosts Beach Blast volleyball

“Beach Blast Volleyball” drew around 100 participants from as far away as Florida, Ohio and Texas, July 7-9 at Oyhut Bay in Ocean Shores. The event was sanctioned by AVP (the Association of Volleyball Professionals), produced by part-time local resident Dennis Irby and his Puget Sound Trade Shows and Events, and hosted by Uprising Volleyball, a beach and indoor volleyball club in Mukilteo, WA.

Juli and Danielle (last names unavailable) from Seattle took first place in the women’s division knocking out Venessa and Stephanie from Windermere, Fla. Brian Miller and Brett Ryan of Mercer island took first against Christian Honer and Jonathan Alvarez of Huntington Beach, California in the men’s division.

Both men’s and women’s teams won a cash prize and the first place winning teams won bids to the AVPNext Manhattan Beach Open next month in California. There were several competitive matches in the Junior Divisions as teams won bids for the AVPfirst National Junior Championships.
