Navigators 67, Hyaks 54

LACEY — Northwest Christian dominated the middle two quarters to beat North Beachm 67-54 in a Pacific 2B game Thursday night at Lacey.

Three players scored in double figures for the Navigators, who outscored the Hyaks 39-23 in the second and third periods.

“We started out strong with a good defensive first quarter but in the second and third quarters our intensity wasn’t there,” North Beach coach Larry Moore said.

Rodney Washington topped the Hyaks with 22 points and 13 rebounds and Steve Sotomish added 19 points. Ben Poplin grabbed seven rebounds and Marcus Pope four assists for North Beach (1-6, 1-7). Nolan Charley was cited for reserve play.

North Beach will host the annual Holiday With the Hyaks tournament Dec. 28-29, opening against Charles Wright Academy.

Wrestling

North Beach’s Natasha Fruh was the lone title winner for the Hyaks on Wednesday at the Hoquiam Grizly Stocking Stuffer Wrestling Tournament. Fruh was dominant in the 235-pound final, pinning Eatonville’s Madison Jumper in 1:39.
