Supporting Cormier for

Commissioner

A couple years back, the Quinault Indian Nation banned swimming on Lake Quinault, citing the water quality from failed septic tanks and the like. Non-tribal residents who lived on the lake were left without many options since the Quinaults control the lake.

County Commissioner Wes Cormier saw the issue and didn’t understand why data related to the water quality wasn’t being released to the public and the media who requested it. Soon, he discovered the county had its own real-time data related to the water quality of the lake. To meet the public’s need, Wes facilitated the release of this information, which showed quite clearly that the water quality was not as bad as presented.

Within a few months, the Quinault Business Committee lifted the swimming ban.

I can draw a pretty good line between the release of information and the swimming ban being lifted. I was a reporter on the Harbor for more than 11 years. Transparency is super important to me. And Wes is the most transparent county commissioner I’ve met.

He fought to change the county’s nepotism-friendly job hiring practices as soon as he took office. He’s done town hall meetings all over the Harbor, including the North Beach.

That stupid lawsuit with the judges? Settled under Wes’s watch.

My mom recently moved to Ocean Shores. She’s just starting to figure this county out. I lived in Grays Harbor for a long time. I’m recommending my mom vote for Wes. You should, too.
