Silver King to be demolished by Quinaults

Contractor sought for removal of dilapidated motel

The Quinault Nation Enterprise Board has announced it is looking for a contractor to assist in the demolition of the Silver King Motel that has long been an eyesore in the Damon Point since it was closed and boarded up several years ago.

The tribal business entity is requesting proposals from qualified building demolition contractors “to assist QNEB in the demolition and abatement of a former motel also known as Silver King Condominium located at 1070 Discovery Avenue, Ocean Shores,” said the official advertisement last week.

The job includes asbestos abatement, and will include the removal and disposal of all asbestos-containing materials.

The 54-unit Silver King has been closed since 2009.

On Monday, a worker was securing plywood boarding over the windows and getting the building ready for demolition.

Tribal officials declined comment on what the future of the property would be.

The deadline to respond is Nov 14. Interested contractors can email a PDF file of the proposal to: JPOPLIN@quinault.org. Or mail a hard copy to: Quinault Nation Enterprise Board; Attn: Myrna Figg, QNEB CEO; 807 5th Avenue, Suite 4, PO Box 720, Taholah, WA 98585.
