Weekly events and community notices around the North Beach

Bridge update

The previously scheduled Sept. 7 delivery and installation of the pre-cast concrete girders for the South Razor Clam Bridge has been re-scheduled for Sept. 15. The contractor’s delivery plan remains the same: bring the girders into the city on Point Brown Avenue and travel south to South Razor Clam Drive. Upon arrival at South Razor Clam Drive, flaggers will stop traffic to allow the delivery trucks to back down South Razor Clam Drive.

During the delivery of the girders, traffic along Pt. Brown will be reduced to a single lane from North Razor Clam Drive to Seagate Street. Delays of up to 20 minutes can be expected during the delivery of each girder. This work is scheduled between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. South Razor Clam Drive will be closed to through traffic. Property owners and residents may expect some delays and limited driveway access during this period, however every effort will be made to minimize the impacts to property owners and residents.

The city encourages motorists to use alternate routes during this work. Additionally, motorists and pedestrians should maintain a safe and respectable distance between themselves and the construction traffic, especially during this phase of the project. Should you have any questions or concerns, contact Nathan Wilkerson at (360) 940-7633.

Lantern Lunch Program

The Green Lantern Lunch Program ended its summer lunch program as of Aug, 31, having delivered 25,064 lunches to the area children. Its continuing program will start on Sept. 15 with weekend deliveries of family food supplies. Any family with children (all ages) are asked to contact Green Lantern Lunch Program to set up weekly delivery. Please call (360) 289-2971.

“We are looking forward to making the school year a bit easier on the family food budgets,” said founder and organizer Phyllis Shaughnessy.

Hydrant flushing

Ocean Shores Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants in the southeastern areas of the city in September. Work will be conducted from Ocean Lake Way to Cape Alava Street on Sept. 26-27. It is common for flushing activities to stir up sediment in the water lines surrounding the work areas. The city recommends you do not use hot water during the hours of 8 s.m. and 4 p.m. on the days shown. If you experience discoloration of your water, please run the COLD water tap for a few minutes until it clears. If you must use hot water during flushing operations, you should flush your hot water tank after operations are complete.

A map of the work area can be viewed at www.osgov.com. If you have any questions contact by phone at (360) 289-4210 or email at mtobert@osgov.com.
