Whether you’re familiar with the beer-making process or not, there’s a lot that goes into making the perfect pint!
Just ask Orlando Maldonado, head brewer at Mount Olympus Brewing.
“I started my beer-making journey with home brewing, it was something that the more I learned about, the more I became interested in. Once I bought my first kit, I fell in love – it’s kind of like cooking, but you’re waiting a little bit longer and coming out with something a bit more interesting in the end. The hobby really then grew into a profession,” Maldonado explains.
After spending six years perfecting his home brewing, he opened Mount Olympus Brewing in 2018.
With a brewery and taproom located on the corner of West Heron Street and Broadway Street in downtown Aberdeen, you can choose from lagers, ales, IPAs, Porters and more. Right now, they even have a guest cider on tap you can sip on! With a variety of flavors, tastes and styles, there’s something for everyone.
Different on purpose, and purposely making a difference
Almost as notable as their celebrated beers, is the commitment Mount Olympus Brewing maintains to their community – including their dedication to supporting local.
“When we started out, I wanted to make sure our taproom wasn’t just somewhere people could go to have fun and try out high quality beer – I also wanted it to be somewhere for people to enjoy themselves while giving back to the community,” Maldonado notes.
The Stream Team Lager that was part of the Grays Harbor Steam Team canning project!
Through charities and fundraisers, they try their best to support local initiatives. They’ve hosted silent auctions, collected books for annual library sales and even partnered with Grays Harbor Steam Team for a canning project!
For every four pack of cans of their Stream Team Lager sold, a $1 donation was made to the non-profit organization to support their continued efforts to protect and restore the streams flowing through Grays Harbor County.
And while the Stream Team Lager was a popular choice for many during the fundraiser, locals are reaching for the Lupulin Fields IPA, a hop-aggressive beer, both crisp and effervescent!
For something a little different, try their Hawaiian Chieftain– it carries a candy-like aroma and has hints of pineapple – it’ll be sure to satisfy your taste buds. And, by partnering with the Grays Harbor Historical Society, for every can sold a portion of sales will be donated to them – so you can feel good knowing you’re supporting a local cause.
With the hopes of expanding distribution, you’ll soon be able to enjoy their delicious craft beer in ever more places!
