The Ocean Shores-North Beach Elks Lodge has been working hard to raise money for scholarships for this year’s North Beach High School seniors and the application deadline is Feb. 20.
According to the Elks scholarship committee chair Alison Cline, only one senior has applied for a Most Valuable Student Scholarship. But seniors who will be attending a vocational or technical school are still able to apply for the vocational scholarships. Also, seniors planning to attend community college may also apply.
Here is some information from the State Elks website:
The Washington State Elks Association Vocational Grant is designed to help graduating high school seniors pursue their vocational education. This grant may be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies at a community college or technical school. It may be used only for usual and required costs of applicant’s planned course of study and must be paid directly to the school they will be attending.
Any graduating senior who is a U.S. citizen is eligible, if they are receiving a diploma or certificate during the current program year and planning to pursue an eligible vocational/technical course, above and supplemental to high school or preparatory school.
Students who would like to apply can get an application from Laken Church at NBHS or may contact Cline at alisoncline@yahoo.com with Elks Scholarship in the subject line. Applications are due by Feb. 20, 2020.
