Windy night, eh?
From the County Dept of Emergency Management: A high wind squall rolled through the County last night bringing 70 mph wind gusts. The winds lasted about 25 minutes but were substantial and according to a citizen in Pacific Beach, sounded like a freight train. Another citizen called the County wanting to know if a tornado was occurring and should she move her family to her basement.

Anyone have high wind speed and/or rainfall for the weekend on the coast? I don’t trust “the experts.”
From the PUD: Power is expected to be restored by 9am to customers in the area of East Hoquiam Road north to Quinault impacted by an outage this morning. The outage was caused by a tree through a power line. The outage impacted about 1,600 customers and was reported at about 6am.
Big soaker on the way
From the County Emergency Management: According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, an extremely large storm will impact all of Western Washington beginning Saturday afternoon and last until late Monday. This will be the wettest storm in more than 2 years to approach the area. A Flood Watch will be issued for all of Western Washington later today. The storm will begin from the South and is forecast to bring 8-10 “ of rain to the Olympic Mountains, 6-8” for the Northern Cascades and 3-5” for the Central Cascades. Grays Harbor County is predicted to receive over 3” of rain

From the County: The National Weather in Seattle is forecasting strong winds and gusts to 40 mph for the Coastal areas through early Thursday morning. Along with the winds will be heavy rain and rain showers which will continue to saturate the ground.
Tuesday night – Winds increasing to 28-31 mph gusting to 40 mph and rain
Wednesday – Sustained Southeast winds 28-31 mph with gusts to 40 mph and rain
Wednesday Night – High wind gusts subsiding through the night.

How low will it go?
From the County: The National Weather Service has extended a Winter Weather Advisory for Grays Harbor County until noon on Tuesday
Tuesday : morning lows beginning in the mid 20’s to teens and although sunshine will be predominant today, the high temperatures county wide will remain below freezing.
Tuesday night : extreme cold with temperatures forecast from the high teens along the coast to the low teens and possibly single digit temperatures inland. Possible snow flurries.

Winds picks up tonight
From the County: Strong Wind Gusts Predicted Tonight Through Wednesday. The National Weather Service is predicting strong winds to affect the Central and Northern Washington Coastal areas with sustained winds 22-29 mph, gusting up to 40 mph beginning Monday night and lasting into Wednesday. Due to the significant amount of recent rainfall and the anticipated wind gusts, the probability of downed trees and power lines becomes significant. Associated with the strong winds will be an increase in the size of ocean swells to over 20 feet beginning Monday evening and lasting into late Tuesday.

Flood watch, more weather
The National Weather Service has issued a FLOOD WATCH for Grays Harbor County for Monday, November 01, 2010. On Monday, 3-5” rainfall totals within a 12 hour period will bring rapid rises in all rivers flowing from the Olympics. At this time the main concern in Grays Harbor County is the Satsop River, which could rise to flood stage (34 feet) @ 11pm Monday night. The Satsop River is NOT expected to rise higher than this initial flood stage which could bring minor flooding in low pasture lands and some roads along the river.
