Snow, wind, ice on the way
From the county: The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Washington Coast and Southwest interior from 1pm this afternoon until 10pm tonight. The National Weather Service is predicting that Grays Harbor County could receive between 1-3” of snow beginning at 4pm (during rush hour), and ending sometime between 9pm -10pm tonight. Very gusty winds will increase along the Coastal areas to 30 -35 mph sustained with gusts to 50 mph.

Just a hail of day in Ocean Shores, today. Any snow on the North Beach? (Up to 5 inches fell north, south and east of Seattle.)

This National Weather Service site says the wind has been gusting over 30 mph since last night. For comparison, anyone have a home wind measuring device? (Does a GPS measure outside wind?)

Lovely weather ahead
From the county: The National Weather Service continues to forecast rain and gusting winds through Wednesday with clearing expected Thursday and Friday.
Sunday & Sunday Night – Showers with SW Winds 30-33 mph gusting to 47 mph along the coast – Gusting winds to 30 mph inland.
Monday – Rain with SW winds gusting to 32mph
Monday Night – Rain, SSW winds at 33-38 mph gusting to 55 mph along the coast, Very gusty winds inland.

Update from the County, on weather:
Today and Tonight Night – Sustained SSE wind will increase to 30-34mph, gusting 45 – 50 mph along the coast. Breezy conditions will exist inland. Rain probability 100%
Friday & Friday Night – SSE Winds steady at 29-36mph, gusting to 45mph along the coast. Breezy conditions inland. Rain probability 100%
Christmas Day – Rain tapering off to showers, winds diminishing.

From the County: The National Weather Service in Seattle is predicting a very wet holiday period for Grays Harbor County. Rain will become steady and continue into Christmas day. There is a strong storm looming off the coast which according to forecast models, will travel to the North and impact Vancouver Island. This would be best for our outlook because it would only
WNWW? (Why No Wind Warning?)
From Charles Wallace, the County’s Deputy Director of Emergency Management: A high wind squall rolled through the County Monday night, bringing 70 mph wind gusts. The winds lasted about 25 minutes but were substantial . . . the event was felt from Elma to Hoquiam to Taholah.
Although wind gusts were predicted to be in the 40-45 mph range, the event developed suddenly. Even though the event was impacting the County, the National Weather Service did not activate the NOAA All Hazard Weather Radios for notification of the event.
