The school is cleared
Parents can rest assured: A team of eight law enforcement personnel, plus five trained dogs, completed a second search/sweep of North Beach Junior and Senior High School. They found nothing, and the school was cleared for students and staff to return from the Convention Center.

North Beach School District may lose a teacher
The school district likely will have a 20 percent cut, or around $60,000, in the I-728 “class size reduction” funding it gets from the State. According to Stan Pinnick, district superintendent, “that’s a little more than a teacher, a teacher and a quarter.” So the district most likely will have one teacher less, in the next school year: “that would be a person already on staff,” Pinnick said. “That would be a staff reduction.”
Or, if a teacher retires, he or she would not be replaced, which would save a layoff. In March, the State will again review revenue projections, which could change the size of the budget cuts.
The District currently has 38 teachers for 600 total K-12 students.
