More Ocean Shores Police Department statistics
In 2008, of 176 Class A crimes reported in Ocean Shores, 64 (36 percent) are listed as “cleared,” or closed. (By Department of Justice guidelines, they are cleared by arrest or “exceptional means,” such as death of a suspect or lack of cooperation by victim.)
The two reported rapes were both cleared, as was the one robbery in 2008. Two of three stolen autos were cleared, and 44 of 50 (88 percent) assaults.
Three of 41 (7 percent) reported burglaries and 12 of 79 (15 percent) thefts were listed as cleared.
In 2007, 29 of 102 (28 percent) burglaries and 26 of 80 (32 percent) thefts were cleared.
In 2007, there were 237 Class A crimes. Of them, 98 were cleared, or 41 percent.
90 mph on O.S. Blvd. CORRECTION
A vehicle was REPORTED to be doing 90 mph. According to Russ Fitts of the Ocean Shores Police Department, no citation was issued; the suspect driver was contacted by police officers. But, since no speeding was witnessed, no citation was issued.
