Crime Reports
At crimereports.com, typing in “98569″ gets you this, which shows various crimes on the edges of Ocean Shores, reported by the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Dept. Looks like it was a busy weekend, with several thefts in the Ocean City, Hogan’s Corner and Pacific Beach areas . . . The Ocean Shores Police Department is not a part of crimereports.com. Deputy Chief Russ Fitts says “we don’t have money in the budget right now for it.”

O.S. Golf Course burglaries
The Ocean Shores Police Department is investigating a series of residential burglaries that have occurred over the past two weeks in homes located along the Ocean Shores Golf Course. In all of the burglaries there were no signs of forced entry. Purses were the primary targets of the burglars. It is believed that the residents were home sleeping during the thefts.
Attempted rape, Sunday night
From the Ocean Shores Police Dept.: On June 21, at about 1 a.m., an Ocean Shores resident became the victim of an attempted sexual assault.
The adult female was walking in the downtown area and accepted a ride from two men that she did not know. They drove her to the beach near the Best Western hotel and the passenger attacked her, hitting her and attempting to tear her clothes off. The driver did not actively participate, but did lock the doors so that the victim could not escape. The victim fought back aggressively and the males gave up and let her out of the car.
The suspects are described as Latino males in their early 20s. The passenger was ‘chubby’ and had a scruffy beard and no mustache. The vehicle was a black or dark-colored Honda 4-door, with a light tan interior. The suspects had claimed to be visitors to Ocean Shores, staying in a local motel.
Anyone with information on this case or possible suspects are asked to call the Ocean Shores Police Department at 289-3331, extension 210.
Beware counterfeit money
From the OSPD: Just a quick “heads up” that a counterfeit $50.00 bill was received by a business in Aberdeen yesterday. No further info is available at this time, and there is no indication yet that this batch will make it out here, but it doesn’t hurt to be careful. Here’s what to look for:
Arson arrest
Early yesterday afternoon, Ocean Shores police arrested a 50-year-old local resident, who is being held in county jail on charges of arson. He is charged with setting this Friday morning fire (Trevor Westlie photo) on Ensign Avenue, the same street where he lives:

Sgt. Luck: 26 years
This week’s North Coast News has a feature on Sgt. Paul Luck, who retired Sunday after 26 years with the Ocean Shores Police Dept.
His service to the city was not acknowledged, at last night’s City Council meeting. (Hopefully it will be, at the next one.)
