More on Damon Point
From Brian Hovis, Parks Planner, Washington State Parks, re potential Parks “surplus” designation of Damon Point State Park:
Tom: I have spoken with Bryan Larson, Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and his supervisor Zoanne Thomas about Damon Point. Both said that if State Parks cancels the interagency agreement, that DNR will not manage differently and public access would continue as it is now.
Damon Point “surplus”
Brian Hovis of Washington State Parks said tonight he expects no changes for user access if the Parks puts “surplus” status on Damon Point State Park; it is owned by the state’s Department of Natural Resources, which he said would retain it.
More details tomorrow . . .

Ocean City State Park in danger
Brian Hovis, a planner with the Southwest Region of the Washington State Parks, confirmed today that Ocean City State Park is on the “mothball” list, due to budget cuts. “There would be public access, but none of the facilities will be open,” he said.
In the “mothball” scenario, Ocean City would be one of the parks to go self-service only, meaning hikers and picnickers could still use it.
Could people camp there?
“No,” Hovis answered.
