Red-Headed Step-Child Syndrome
The Grays Harbor PUD doesn’t even list Sunday’s North Beach blackout on its “Outage Information” page.
Oh, that’s right: if it would list every North Beach outage, it would need a separate Web site . . .

Kelpers is a scream
A little rain and a loss of power, think that will stop the Kelpers Festival? Of course not . . .
Not quite sure what the theme of this float in the Moclips-to-Pacific Parade was, but it’s probably “what happens at Kelpers stays at Kelpers.” Any way, the crowd dodged a few rain squalls and had the usual North Beach fun.

The amazing Ramadasa
From last week’s newspaper, a profile of one of the most fascinating people around the North Coast:
In late 1999, Amy Michelle Butler, fresh off a trauma, declared her independence from her former life.
She took on a new name: Ramadasa Jivatma.
And became a new person, leaving behind Nebraska to pursue her happiness on the North Beach.
Her life, for 10 years, has been almost a constant struggle, with periods of blinding pain, intense fear and a rootless desperation.
The pay off: freedom.
