Homecoming
North Beach High’s kids had fun last night, with “floats” at halftime going around the track, celebrating Homecoming. The game itself was a rocky one, for the home team: a 49-0 loss to powerful Tacoma Baptist.
The North Beach cross country team competes today, in the Chehalis Invitational.

Football team comes up short
From the Daily World:
Navigators 34, Hyaks 14
RAINIER — Despite outgaining Northwest Christian, 252-230, North Beach fell to the Navigators, 34-14, in a Pacific League opener Friday at Rainier. The Navigators scored in every quarter. The Hyaks were plagued by three interceptions.
The Hyaks (0-1, 0-3) scored for the first time in the second quarter on a 20-yard TD pass from Derek Archer to Jason Fry. The PAT failed.
Archer’s 74-yard kickoff return in the third quarter accounted for North Beach’s other touchdown. Josh LaVoie scored the 2-point conversion.
“We lost because of sporadic tackling and mistakes by us,” said Hyak coach Robin Andrea. “We are improving and we’re blocking better. We are not making as many errors and we are playing more disciplined.”
Hyak Joe Ray had 10 carries for 42 yards and Archer had 12 carries for 37 yards. Andrea cited receiver Jason Fry with three catches for 60 yards.
North Beach hosts Tacoma Baptist on Friday.
