Kite Challenge this weekend
(The Chamber’s calendar has it listed as next weekend.)
Flying lessons, demonstrations from experts and competitions for various skill levels are in the air for the 2009 Kite Challenge, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The action takes place just south of the Chance a la Mer beach approach. For more information, call Cutting Edge Kites, 360-289-0667
YOU ARE INVITED
The Daily World, coming all the way in from Aberdeen, and your very own North Coast News are hosting a “Business After Hours” Chamber of Commerce event, this Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., at the (you guessed it) Ocean Shores Convention Center. While Chamber members are extra-invited, the event is open to all, and it’s free.
Did I mention the Galway Bay appetizers? Also free. Do bring a wee bit of cash for the no-host bar.
Entertainment will be provided by journalist/musicians Jacob Jones and Mike Marsh. (Haven’t decided whether to call them The See Cuse or Flight of the Deadlines.)
The entire NCN staff is planning to attend.

MUSIC this weekend
This weekend, the Ocean Shores Convention Center becomes one big music hall. The Country Music Jam & North Coast Folk Music brings not only country and folk music, but also a Sunday morning Gospel show.
On top of the music (by artists such as Chris Kokesh, pictured)
there will be a chili cook-off, vendors and a country dinner.
Admission to Saturday night’s country dinner is $10. It starts at 6 p.m., and will be followed by a country dance featuring the music of Western Strings.
Admission is free to all the other music and other events.

Rainy Easter egg hunt
The Ocean Shores Fire Dept. put on an egg hunt, Easter Sunday at North Beach High School. Would a little (or even a lot of) rain keep the kids from hunting?
Hadley Ritter, daughter of Brian (of the OSFD) & Suzy Ritter displays North Beach Easter fashion (photos by Mike McGregor):
Not quite as many kids as in years past, which meant more eggs for the hearty ones in attendance:
