Ernie Johnson, SuperVolunteer, is over at the Chance approach, leading a team of volunteers picking up mounds of trash. Ken Lanfear, the Director of Public Works, is coordinating his crew as they load up and haul away two dump truck loads full of garbage.

The nice story behind the photo:
From Becky Baker: “my kids and i rolled up on this family and their motor home stuck in the sand just off shilo exit last tuesday. they had been there half hour and no one would help them.
i asked the boys if they would like to see if they could help, they are 13 and 15 and they said yes.

In Ocean Shores, the unofficial kick-off to summer is the Five Star Sand and Sawdust Festival. Aside from peanut butter and razor clams, what could go together better than chainsaws and sand castles?
It may sound weird, but it works, judging by the masses that have been entertained over the years.
This year’s beach/Convention Center festival runs today through Sunday.

Archaeologists today discovered giant beach pyramids at the Chance a la Mer (translation: “Take a chance at the beach!”) approach. As you can see from the photo below, the pyramids are some 3,000 feet high, making the two giraffes in the foreground look like tiny seagulls.
