Another PAWS success
Henry was a tough one, for the folks at PAWS to find a good match. He’s a bit “high energy,” a euphemism for “will he ever settle down????” Then again, maybe he just didn’t like his name . . . Anyway, Joan Baus reports that “this right guy came along and it was love at first sight. Obviously, this guy is also high energy and it seems a match made in heaven.” The new owner gave Henry a new name: Ozzy. They’re having a good time, it looks like:
Update: The wonderful photos are by professional photographer Jesse Wanskasmith

Bobcat sighting
In airport vicinity. Emailer asks, “Is this common for Ocean Shores?” From yesterday’s email:
There is a doe that’s been hanging around (with a fawn), who has a broken leg and a large patch of missing fur. We think she was hit by a car. The bobcat definitely was stalking her, she was feeding at the neighbors bird feeder.
Full of carp
Cougar back?
From this week’s Police log (no details yet, hopefully the dog made it to safety):
Sept. 17, 4:15 p.m.
Mount Olympus Ave SE at Mud Hen

“Duck Lake Live, With Gary Iversen”
Stressed out by all the road work? Unable to get to your favorite place? Business owner, and have no idea WTF (What the Four-way?) is going on? Well, put on some soothing music, gaze outside at the sun dancing off the bay, or a canal, or the ocean, or wherever you are . . . Breath deep the clean Ocean Shores air (unless, of course, you’re near one of those open sewer lines they’re carving up “downtown” . . .), gaze out at the pelicans, the geese, the little things scurrying around . . . And if you don’t see any, or just don’t feel like going outdoors, enjoy another edition of
“Duck Lake Live, With Gary Iversen,” featuring our favorite lakeside photographer:

Bear scat photo
Apologies: this is a little (to say the least) gross, but as Bob DeBuhr points out, “it’s natural.” And, if you see something like this when you’re out hiking, it’s helpful to know what it means: BEAR NEAR!
Sgt. Matt Nixon of the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife says the bears are out there filling up on berries and other edibles, in preparation for the winter. Bob’s photo is near the Interpretive Center.

Iversen: Blue Herons
Nicely played again, Mr. Gary Iversen (I’m saving the really good one for the newspaper):
