Girls softball team scores 34 runs in home victory

RAYMOND — North Beach nearly took boys team honors despite winning only three events, while Ilwaco swept team honors in a multi-school meet hosted by Raymond on March 22.

The Fishermen nipped North Beach, 112-110, in the boys meet. Ilwaco’s girls amassed 143 1/2 points to finish 30 points ahead of runner-up Northwest Christian.

North Beach’s Rodney Washington took two first — the high jump at 6-2 and the long jump at 18 feet. North Beach’s Brendan Chaney and reigning state champion Tawni Blankenship captured the boys and girls pole vaults, while Lorin Cox took the girls 200 meters.

OYEHUT — Madisen Camacho and Madi Eang drove in five runs apiece as North Beach outlasted Wishkah in a non-league game Monday.

Wishkah opened the game with an 11-run first inning, but the Hyaks responded with 18 runs in the second and snapped a 27-all tie with a seven-run sixth.

Erica Bomhoff drove in eight runs and Abbi VanBlaricom hit for the cycle — homering and knocking in seven runs for the Loggerettes.
