OCEAN SHORES — Winning pitcher Steven Sotomish drove in six runs to pace North Beach past Lake Quinault 16-6 in a non-league game Thursday at the North Bay Park.

Sotomish tripled twice and doubled for the Hyaks (1-1), who closed out the game in five innings via the 10-run rule.

“I was really happy with our improvement from the last game, with our approach and the way we ran the bases,” Hyak coach Dave Hinchen said. “Sotomish was a man on fire today.”

Allen Espinoza drove in two runs for the Elks, who were making their season debut.

Lake Quinault travels to Raymond next. On Tuesday, the Hyaks were visiting Northwest Christian.
