Approximately 5,000 local chapters of Indivisible.org, including the Ocean Shores chapter, staged demonstrations Monday to protest President Donald Trump’s declaration last week of a national emergency to fund construction of his promised border wall.

About 15 of the local group’s 60 members started their demonstration Monday afternoon, and their numbers doubled within 30 minutes. Dana Dietz, in the foreground of the photos, is a member of the local chapter’s steering committee, and explained that members of her group believe Trump has lied about the situation along the 2,000 mile border between the U.S. and Mexico. “There is no emergency and this declaration … is not according to U.S. law, but instead the act of someone who wants limitless power. Declaring an emergency is the classic act of a dicta-tor, and we must stop this before it becomes even more dangerous. The emergency is Trump declaring an emergency,” she said.
