Fresh Waterways

Anyone interested in the Ocean Shores fresh waterways is invited to attend the third “Wine and Weeds” event at 5 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 23 at the Ocean Shores Inn and Suites on Ocean Shores Boulevard. Information will be provided on the Ocean Shores Fresh Waterways Corporation, and will include an aquatic biologist guest speaker to address the use of herbicides on the waterways and recent weed survey results, as well as what owners can do to improve water quality.

Hydrant flushing

Ocean Shores Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants in the southeastern areas of the city in September. Work will be conducted from Ocean Lake Way to Cape Alava Street on Sept. 26-27. It is common for flushing activities to stir up sediment in the water lines surrounding the work areas. The city recommends you do not use hot water during the hours of 8 s.m. and 4 p.m. on the days shown. If you experience discoloration of your water, please run the COLD water tap for a few minutes until it clears. If you must use hot water during flushing operations, you should flush your hot water tank after operations are complete. A map of the work area can be viewed at www.osgov.com. If you have any questions contact by phone at (360) 289-4210 or email at mtobert@osgov.com.
