Seventh annual event at North Beach High raises funds, awareness for animal welfare/service

Corky Watkins, with West Coast Search Dogs of Grays Harbor County, worked with Piper the bloodhound to demonstrate her trailing skills during the 7th annual Ocean Shores Woof-a-Thon Saturday on the field and track at North Beach High School.

The demonstration was just one of the highlights a dozens of dogs and a many more dog lovers turned out for the event, which raises funds for pet-related charities.

In six years, the event has donated over $60,000 to pet-related non-profits and activities in the Harbor. This year’s beneficiaries are North Beach PAWS, PAWS of Grays Harbor, Harbor Rescue, Northwest Search & Rescue, and Ocean Shores Food Bank, which for years has included pet foods in its twice-monthly free food distributions.
