Story Time

Saturdays Aug. 20, 27, 10-10:40 a.m. Books, rhymes, interactive stories, songs and fun. Ages 5 and under. Presented by Katie.

Children’s 2016 Summer Reading Program

Ongoing through Aug. 20. “On Your Mark, Get Set…..Read!” Sign up and receive your bag of surprises. For every 10 books read up to 200, you can choose a prize. Aug. 18 Triathlon, 2-3 p.m. The final program for summer. Can you crawl, hop and run? Are you the finest athlete in your neighborhood? Show off your skills at the Library Triathlon, with games and prizes galore!

Teen Summer Reading

Friday Aug. 19, 3 p.m. Fiesta Finale: Teens 7-12 grade who have read at least 500 pages as part of the program are eligible to attend a fun party with a fiesta theme. There will be a build-your-own-taco bar and games. There will also be grand prize drawings for prizes from local businesses.

Book Group

Saturday Aug. 20 3-4 p.m. The library book group will be discussing The Highest Tide by Jim Lynch. The Friends of the Library purchase five copies of each book for members to check out for three weeks.

Alan Rammer

Saturday Aug. 27, noon. The Ocean Shores Library Book Group would like to invite you to a special event. Guest Speaker Alan Rammer was the inspiration for the marine biologist mentor in the novel The Highest Tide by Jim Lynch. Alan was the marine community outreach and environmental specialist for the state Department of Fish and Wildlife from 1988 until his retirement in 2009, and in 2012, he was named the National Marine Educator of the Year.

Local estate planning attorney for over 35 years, Scott Sage will present estate planning concepts in easy-to-understand terms, in a relaxed and interactive environment, with questions welcome.

Thursday, Aug. 25, 5-7:30 p.m. Are you confused about when to take your benefit? This Smart Social Security and Retirement Income planning workshop is for you. Learn how to maximize your Social Security benefits and the importance of coordinating other retirement assets to help maintain your lifestyle. Family Movie Day

Saturday Aug. 27, 2:30-4 p.m.

Movies are shown on the Library’s “big” screen. This fun event is free and open to movie lovers of all ages. Enjoy Angry Birds.
