Pirates Life, Gore at the Shore produce colorful weekend

January events season kicks off in Ocean Shores with many in costume.

The events season got off to a colorful start this past weekend as hundreds of Pirates mingled with Gothic and Dark Art aficionados for the simultaneous Pirates Life for Us and Urban Unglued “Gore at the Shore.”

Both events brought out colorful characters and helped fill the Ocean Shores Food Bank with much-needed donations.

Victor Moray brought his South American Orange Iguana, Captain Orangebeard, from Seattle to attend the 8th annual Pirates Life For Us event in Ocean Shores. Over 100 pirates gathered for this year’s group photo at the Lions Club on Ocean Shores Blvd., which served as the Pirate Hall for the weekend’s activities.

At the Ocean Shores Convention Center, Gothic art, clothing and assorted themes were sold and savored at the Dark Market for the inaugural event.
