From the county commissioners’ April 23 meeting minutes: A motion was made, seconded and passed to authorize the Fair, Events and Tourism Manager to sign a one-time only funding allocation for a Tourism Service Contract with the South Beach Visitor Information Center in the amount of $10,000.

About that bridge . . .
Recently, the Westport City Council voted against a proposed Westport-to-Ocean Shores bridge. This Daily World story shows why; meanwhile, I’m hearing rumors of a “proposed” a toll bridge from Ocean Shores to Atlantis City. Design plans that have come my way show it’s a one-way bridge . . .

WESTPORT — The idea for a toll bridge crossing the mouth of Grays Harbor, going from Westport to Ocean Shores, which came up recently before the City of Westport, comes from William D. Stute, who calls himself the executive trustee of the Speake Federal Land Reservation and claims ownership of 54.4 square miles of most of the South Beach area.
He’s consistently sending bills to the city of Westport, saying that city officials are trespassing and has filed lawsuits against the city, state and other local governments, insisting he owns their land based on a descendant’s original

Lumber barge having trouble near O.S. Jetty
From Emma Davis: Earlier this afternoon, the “PAUL BUNYAN” was seen leaving the harbor and sailing past the north jetty without any apparent issues. Shortly after this though, one could see the ship moving back toward the harbor with a struggling assist from the “Triton” as engines could be heard working away, the ships seemed to be moving back towards the port.

Caller reports “thousands of geese” flying northward. Personally, I’ve been disappointed with some of their recent formations.
