It’s that time: Algae blooms
From the State Dept. of Ecology: Now that the weather is turning warmer and people are enjoying the water, be on your guard against toxic algae blooms in Washington’s lakes. They can make people sick, especially children.
If the level of toxins is high enough, pets, livestock and wildlife can die from drinking water laden with toxic algae.
Post your PV #3 sign comments here
Love them or hate them? Crude, or brilliant? (or both?) Note: some people went off a deep-end tangent on this from the July 4/fireworks posting, so here is the spot for all your PV commenting needs.

Brazen Bear-foot Bandit
From this week’s Police Log (and, yes, this is the same street where a resident shot at a bear):
July 2
Huckleberry Court
“Black bear sitting on a dumpster.”
Only in the 289
Richard Cherry captures a racer, and a dis-interested Local, at yesterday’s Tri Freaks:
Bear-foot Bandits at large
“Barefoot Bandit” busted by Bahamans (Seattle Time story here) . . . Here, the Bear-foot Bandits gang members remain “at large” (up to 250 pounds), hitting bird feeders, composters and garbage cans from Rain Street to Marine View. Any recent sightings?
Runaway Bridal Party?
“Attention, Ocean Shores: If anyone hears of a Groom who is missing his Bride, as well as an entire Bridal Party, please have him report to the Tri Freaks finish line . . .”
Fun? In OCEAN SHORES??!
Why are all these people laughing and having a good time today, at the Convention Center? Well, when you uncork wines from more than a dozen wineries around the state, have gourmets like Jess Owen from Ocean Crest Resort putting out delicious nibblings, add live music and works of local artists . . . . And the $10 entry fee and portions of the sales go to a great cause: The Interpretive Center.
Everybody wins. The Wine, Art and Food festival is going on until 9 p.m. today.
