We are well aware of the effort to get this equipment here. I for one wrote letters BEFORE it even became a “news item”. However, my point is that SEATTLE TV, since we have no true local TV, still is focused on THEIR needs. That is why I said “Will they care to let us know on the news? Right now the coast is just a second thought to the weather people.” Do you see low temperatures stated in the news for the coast now? NO. Only the HIGH TEMP. Will they get a message to us in time? NOAA Radios are fine, but by the time they go through the process, the storm will probably have already passed us. It may help the fisherman who is “observant” of any reports, but they have to be reported. Someone has to review and report the observation from the equipment. How many reports have we gotten from the equipment temporarily installed at Westport?
Here’s some more info

A lot of people fought for years to get us radar, as we are in a radar blackout area and couldn’t accurately predict the weather. Our coast is the most dangerous for fishermen in the U.S. because of this. This came from federal funds, btw. Now we will be able to predict inclement weather with much more accuracy. If it saves even one fisherman’s life, it is well worth it. Or helps us prepare for a very dangerous winter storm, not send out PUD workers if it is dangerous, then it is worth it. If you want to be so negative, at least get your facts straight.
Now that they can see our weather, will they be able to inform us? Will they care to let us know on the news? Right now the coast is just a second thought to the weather people.
Great! Now we’ll know EXACTLY how fast Ocean Shores is going broke. It can also double as a “time out” area for the Mayor when he’s thinking of giving away our tax dollars. (QUESTION: Would he ever escape?)
