All through the show Grant stated Ocean Shores. He did not state anywhere else. He named the horse business, Run Like a Chicken and Nansea Stables which are not in Ocean Shores, and he did mix old an new footage. Honey Pearl Ranch has the concession in Ocean Shores. The Collin’s Inn was not here when the Legend was here. In fact, the old rusted pole that held the sign is stil there. It is Ocean Shores. It also was advertised on Channel 2 and 5 as being Ocean Shores and not just the coast. One can only go by what they say. What the Hotel Motel tax paid for was the advertisements that that show always carries. We see the spots for Grays Harbor Tourism and Westport Tourism also on that show every week. The weather probably impacted the ability to film everything they wanted here. Yes, it put a good light on Ocean Shores. That was the point of the show and it did that.
When Grant Goodeve was talking about the horses on the beach he said the price was 15 dollars per hour, Now its 20 bucks an hour. Also you can not ride horses in the dunes, also you can not take horses in the surf.
Yes it will, and at the risk of ending up with the Crabber, I say I am not being negative just stating the facts and asking for better. Would like to know who you are and sit down to have a constructive discussion someday.
Okay. I was talking about the ‘background’ in that photo sequence. That is all. I am not sure what meetings you are saying Tom does not attend, AND, you are certainly leading the way with negativity in this particular blog. It is a tv show. It highlighted some great things about OS. Geez, I just can’t see ANY negativity here…except maybe yours. It was a beautiful, sunny day…and yes, your opinion is important. Sorry, Ginny, but I just don’t get your point. But, tomorrow will be another sunny day. HOORAY!
My comment is directly related to your comment “not even close to being around these parts.” My opinion which is every bit as important as yours, is that this is a negative comment. I am simply trying to explain that this show was not about Ocean Shores. We were simply the lead in to the shows “segments.” Possibly because the article on the front of the newspaper leads to negativity and I am just Tired of Tom not attending meetings and then after the fact printing and instigating negativity. Just saying it would be nice to hear & see more positive reinforcement on this blog.
Gee, Ginny…I haven’t noticed anything negative about what Tom posted, nor anything negative about ANY of these comments. The show itself was very good. Very good. Heck, they could do a three hour production on Ocean Shores and still not hit all of the highlights. Curious to know what you read here that was in the least bit negative. And yes, we do watch Northwest Backroads. I don’t see how you could find anything negative about the pic Tom posted. It only generated some great memories.
Do any of you even watch that show regularly? What the committee purchased with the Hotel/motel tax dollars were 3 or 4 intro spots on the program NOT the entire program. We got lucky and instead of NW backroads using our spots as a lead in on some resort in Canada or Montana they did a show on the coast. Any of the activities could be here in Ocean Shores and most are. Anyone been down to the marina lately? The wind surfers are there, The beachcombers are on the beach all the activities draw tourism which the city benefits from. Stop being so negative about everything and please try to see that a few people are trying really hard to promote Ocean Shores. All ideas are welcome and help would be appreciated. Tom stop trying to stir the EDITED: LANGUAGE, MS. HILL, LANGUAGE! and go find a real issue at city hall.
(Are you out there Crabber?)
There was another old file pic on that show. It was a reader board…white with black lettering…that was advertising or promoting something line Lindeys or Linnies…it went by fast.
It was somewhere around the Collins thing. Did not recognize the signboard, nor the message. Anyone else notice that? Plus, when they were promoting the land/sky/ski thing, it was NOT even close to being around these parts.
WOW! That’s some old footage! It hasn’t been the Legend for some time now.
It is old footage and it is looking west to east right at the Legend Tavern and before that it was called Lumpy’s and before that it was the original Legend Tavern, unless I have forgotten a name or two.
I think its Mocha Madness coffee stand in Aberdeen or Hoq. I know I have seen it somewhere in one of those cities.
File photo? Don’t recognize the ‘INN’ sign…altho is provokes a memory. Wasn’t there a pub/tavern in the old Hut / New Bennett’s building at one time? I would guess this shot is from west to east. If it is indeed from east to west, then I have no clue.
Lots of old footage and from places that were not Ocean Shores. Better than what we got from our “advertising” agency. They were completely canned footage. It would be nice to have the sail cart things here.
Correction it is Ocean Shores but some time ago
I have not seen the show but that does not look like Ocean Shores
