Mucho gusto
This National Weather Service site says the wind has been gusting over 30 mph since last night. For comparison, anyone have a home wind measuring device? (Does a GPS measure outside wind?)

We had a gust here of 18.2 miles per hour.
We also had some hail both this morning and this afternoon. To answer your question Tom, a GPS works by comparing three time signals from satellites in geosynchronous orbit. Your GPS clock compares those times with its own internal clock and calculates your position based on the difference.
May you all have a Happy New Year.
Up stream too!!
In a row boat with a slow leak and only one oar!
gimme the “good old days”. 130mph+.
I had a 40 MPH gust at 9 AM this morning!
Tom, just checked my station and it showed last gust at 32. Highest recorded over last 24 hours was 33 at 1:27 AM.
sounds about right! i was up and down all night and i would have to say thats about pretty close to what i felt when i stepped out on my porch!
Only if it measures how fast you are being blown down the street! Try it with a skateboard and a parasail! How about an umbrella?
