The argument has always been from our council and their city attorney that we have to pay the mayor the same as the city manager by law. McEachin got $8300/ month and the following city manager Morrisette got $6,667/month. Why isn’t our unelected mayor getting what the last city manager Morrisette got.which is is 19.7% less. This difference is the cost of the 1% raise in property taxes on all taxpayers.. Are Ocean Shores taxpayers being represented by anybody at all?. Can somebody explain how this is legal or ethical and what voters and taxpayers can do?
Why now? Only relevance is city list. Look at other cities without city managers and pay Mayors $800 to 2000 /Mo. for whole job. Make Council responsible for more again- better results. Rewrite obsolete ordinances and set power division more efficiently. Make Commissions and Boards report to Council. Open applications without the commissions and boards picking their choice. People apply to the council. Council selects. Then have staff take their proper roll – suppliers of information the boards ask for. Board runs show!
