Folkers: Ambulance Utility will end
Finance Director Mike Folkers said the Ambulance Utility will not be continued in 2011. The first two drafts of the 2011 budget had this utility (a.k.a “the toilet tax”) continuing through 2011. The Ambulance Utility will end at the end of this December.

No The EMS is not being cut. When citizens were asked to approve the new levy, it was also agreed that if voters did this it would not be necessary to continue the “toilet tax”. The EMS levy which voters passed will cover the cost of EMS and Mike Folkers said that some fat was cut from the budget so services will not be lost. Please note that when the Mayor was out there talking to the hoteliers who were very unfairly hit with that assessment he said the tax would end Dec 31, 2010. However, he attempted to continue it on the 2011 budget & the city council said no, you told folks it would be discontinued if the levy passes. Shocked by this I am, but Thank you.
So does that mean the EMS spending budget will have to be reduced by $153,500?
