Sunshine . . . tomorrow?
If we’re all good, we just might get some sun, but not until another soggy, windy day. And now what should we name, the first storm of the season? a) The LID Roller b) The Public Works Puddler c) The Rainabout d) other
Here’s the latest from the County: The National Weather Service has cancelled the High Surf Warning and Coastal Flood Warning for the Central Washington Coast. A High Surf Advisory remains in effect until 6pm Tuesday night. Ocean swells are still around 20 feet and will subside through the day.
The Fall Weather Event over the last few days raked the Coastal areas with extremely high surf, beach erosion and wind gusts in the upper 40 mph range. The flooding that was predicted was very minor in Westport and had no real effect on Ocean Shores or Aberdeen. There were a few small power outages throughout the County which the PUD repaired quickly.
This is the first of many predicted weather events this Fall and Winter. Although the County escaped this last event relatively unscathed, the weather systems are unpredictable, move fast and can produce large amounts of wind, rain and cold, icy conditions on the roads. Last year, the first week of December produced record cold for many areas of the County. Over the last decade, many very serious weather events impacting Grays Harbor County have been during the months of November and December. All predictions for the 2010-2011 Winter season are for large amounts of rainfall and at least one severe weather event every month, such as wind storms, flooding and very low temperatures with snow and ice. Grays Harbor County Emergency Management is recommending that you prepare your home, family and business for the upcoming severe weather events before they happen!

What a difference a day makes! It’s gorgeous out there this morning, wonder what priceless gems I could find on a long beach walk today : ) Darn it! I won’t be able to find out.
Call it the Rainabout!! They have already thrown in the towel. They have mowed around the towel underneath the yeild sign on the west side of the round about for two months. Maybe it is a symbolic gesture to the roundabout gods.
