Bomb threat at North Beach High
Bill Duncanson, principal of North Beach Junior and Senior High School, said the school will be evacuated for about an hour today. This is the result of a note apparently written by a student yesterday, saying a bomb would go off in the school at 10:10 a.m. today. According to Duncanson, a bomb squad from Olympia came to the school today at 5 a.m. “They cleared the building, and we were allowed to come back in at 7. We’ll be evacuating the building in a half hour to go to the Convention Center. The bomb squad are going to sweep the building again.” Duncanson expects the students to return to the school around 10:40 a.m.
Students were sent home with a note explaining the situation yesterday. Duncanson said that two-thirds of the kids did not attend the junior high/high school today, which is on a half –day schedule.
Asked about the mood of the school this morning, the principal said: “I think the kids are pretty disgusted.”

As a parent of one of the children that attend this school…i was very bothered by the fact that school was not canceled on this day. If there was legitament reason to call in a bomb squad and dogs, then school should have been dismissed for the day. Who’s to say that the bomb couldnt have gone off early? Am I over reacting in thinking this way?
sad to see this happen but we need to look at all the problems and stresses our kids face in school. this time no one got hurt, we might not be so lucky.
So, that was why I saw 4 state trooper vehicles and a large truck followed by an unmarked vehicle going to McDonald’s this morning about 7 AM.
