Missing agenda item?
At the Sept. 27 City Council meeting, councilor Jackie Farra shared citizens’ frustrations over the $250 fee, for Street LID assessment appeals. Mayor Garland French informed her that it was council that set the fee, and that council could change it. Farra asked for a vote to do so. She was told that, for something to go to a council vote, it would have to be on an agenda. She asked that it be on an agenda. French said it would be: “You’re right to ask for an agenda item, so I’ll do that.”
The agenda for the Oct. 11 City Council meeting has been released. It has one item of business, concerning residential homes in business areas.
What happened to the Farra request?

Maybe she will ask them to ammend the agenda and add it!! That is one way to get it on there!!!
Were all going broke and so is the City. The on going legal fees for several cases including the Teamsters contract will cost more than they have. That is one reason the $250.00 fee looks good to them.
Start thinking County. It’s just around the corner. Or consider the road maintance lid lift and the water plant cost overrun and who knows what else. They need more $$$$.
There also several other agenda items missing. What happened to the second reading concerning the proposed ordinances dealing with the city administrator and the mayor’s salary? How quickly we/they forget.
And we voted for these people? Nest time got to be more selective. What someone’s affiliations are is not a qualification. Farra is a keeper.
I’m sure the City will say it was a misunderstanding and it should have been on the agenda. But the truth of the way things have been run out here say otherwise. This LID has been a sham from the start, plenty of broken promises and excuses why things havn’t been as initially planned.
The sad thing is the South end of Ocean Shores Boulevard was one of the first roads re-done when the project started because it was almost undriveable because of the bumps and depressions from the rotting trees under the ground. Now look at it, it’s already starting to suffer under the same circumstances as the original road. It should be worthless again in a few short years. And remember how the company who won the project said they would be removing all of the decomposing logs which were such a problem? I lice on the South end and I saw them removing the logs only a handful of times over the legnth of the project.
As I said, empty promises and excuses. That should be the Cities new motto…
Voters and taxpayers should not tolerate false promises like this and than excuses when agenda items do not appear.
Each time the mayor or council does something like this it chips away their credibility. Without credibility they will not be able to represent the voters or govern.
Council should be more concerned about things like this than they are. The voters need to hold their feet to the fire. They hold taxpayers feet to the fire to get money even after they have wasted the it.
I seem to remember what was said was that she would have to go to Dave Creighton to get it put on the agenda. Or was it the mayor was supposed to? Or did the Mayor Pro Tem forget?
Sounds like the ball was dropped somewhere……
