The Library lives
Final vote: 1,069 “Approve” to 1,066 “Reject.” (One more “Reject” vote since last week’s count.) In 2011 and 2012, there will be a .22 cent lid lift/levy for the Ocean Shores Library.
(If the Shoo Fits Where It Dept.: The County’s “Election Results” web site has, since the initial count a few weeks ago, listed under “Levy to Support Ocean Shores Public Library” the words “Approve” and “Rejecte.”)

Like Frankenstein, it has been brought to life from the dead. However, will it function properly. Frankenstein did have a few issues. Will we get the result we were hoping for? Will it really be the modern miracle the good Dr. proposed? Will we end up with Young Frankenstein instead?
Well, my wife and I don’t often agree to vote as a block, but we did discuss our library votes. We still don’t know whether we have voted correctly with our “approve” votes. We do know how important our library is to us and other residents of the community. But sometimes you have to suffer in the short term to benefit in the long run. Had we voted “reject”, we might have moved to the regional library system sooner–the real benefit which would be taking the financing of the library away from our local government. The only thing I do know for sure is that our two votes made a difference–good or bad.
I think it’s rather amusing and in character that our final LID assessments were not mailed out until after the election.
I don’t think an earlier mailing would have changed our votes, but maybe, and maybe others, like us, who labored with their decisions—
