⌂ Brief History of LID 2007-1 (The current road LID)
⌂ The Macaulay Report – Summary & Discussion
⌂ Action Plan for Property Owners
Hosted by Lower Ocean Shores Taxes (LOST) www.lowerostaxes.com
NOTE: Up to this point L.O.S.T. has been operating as a small group trying to keep the residents of OS apprised of the current issues affecting our city. The size of the group of concerned citizens has not increased and thus, neither has participation. L.O.S.T. needs to move to the next level and get more organized so as to more effectively mobilize local residents not only to better understand what’s happening in this city but also to DO what’s right for themselves and the city.

Here is some light reading to understand the process and results or impacts. http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=35.07
To disincorporate seems like a most intelligent move for Ocean Shores citizens. The management of our tax dollars and resources certainly cannot be handled any worse than now. Think of the upside for Grays Harbor county: new convention center & state of the art fire department plus all new roads! Let me know where to sign the petition…the people paying the bills need to be heard.
Would someone please start a petition to disincorporate the City of Ocean Shores and have the land reverted to Grays Harbor County jurisdiction like they are trying to do in Sultan. I would be more than happy to sign it and put it to a vote of the people. I’m quite disappointed with the city government’s mismanagement of my tax dollars and overspending the the fees I pay for non usage of anything in this city over the past 20 years. For Pete’s sake it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that this community is a money pit and should be restructured by reducing its govenment. We have been fleeced for decades and its time to get rid of the system as it stand currently.
EDITED We’re trying to “kick it up a notch” with an actual ACTION plan, to educate not only property owners but the Mayor and Council as well. Last time I checked, we’re all in the same boat.
If the city has to pay for it’s share in the property taxes, then at least that is deductible. The LID when you pay for it directly is not deductible. Yes, the debt is there and has to be paid, but sometimes it is how you pay it that benefits you. Everyone pointed fingers when they found out that they blew it by 8 million. However, it was in each ordinance the council agreed to. We need to hire competent staff. Too many just wait for their managers, mayor, and council to move on. They stay and continue to do as they wish. Time to refocus on who they work for. Art’s parting words about not being able to live within their means says volumes about how citizens are viewed here.
Agreed! Nothing much we can do about this one. We’ve incurred the debt and it needs to be paid. About the only “action plan” will be to try to figure out how to get someone else to pay your share.
All these adhoc committees but nothing ever changes. The town management and council still keep overspending and making the same old “mistakes.” 2/12/2007 resolution #560 said the finance costs of the road LID WERE included. To late to fuss about it now. See the history and recognize the future.
