Street LID poll
Which of the following best describes the way you feel about the $44 million Street LID project, which repaved all of Ocean Shores:
a) We needed it, the job was well done, my payment is about what I expected
b) We need it, but the project is more expensive than it should have been
c) I strongly disagree with my “Special Benefits” assessment, and feel I am being asked to pay too much
d) Other (please specify)

I find it interesting, yet predictable, that the citizens are given such a small window of time to protest their assessments. If you mail it in, be sure and send it registered mail. (So sorry, we didn’t receive your letter)
SOME OF THE ROADS DID NEED IT, BUT IT WAS NOT A JOB WELL DONE, & WILL HAVE TO BE REPAIRED AGAIN TOO SOON. I TOO, FEAR THAT THE MONEY WILL NOT BE SPENT WHERE IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SPENT.
Not a single citizen had a vote to bring a majority consensus to the taking of this massive 44 million dollars directly from taxpayers pockets.
Council and mayor have no idea how shoddy this project was managed. In addition they do not even understand what Macaulay did while paying him $500,000.
For this kind of money you would expect council and the mayor could explain the assessed benefit of these roads but they can’t just as Macaulay can’t. This is proprietary information evidently that taxpayers are not allowed to have. Must taxpayers always be kept ignorant when spending millions of their money without a vote?
Therefore there can be no other choice but c).
maybe we need a LID to hire people to tell the city how to put a LID on spending our money.
b) !!!
d) This is just the first installment of many yearly installments to pay again for work that was not done well, supervised well, and managed well both on the ground and fiscally. How many logs did they find? What will we have to pay to “maintain” these roads? $691,500 per year if they pass that .50 cent road maint. levy.
d) other: I am afraid my LID payments will be used for pending/expected legal counsel therefore draining the fund and not having any money left to maintain the roads.
