Standoff ends with arrest
After a tense 90 minutes, Ocean Shores police and Grays Harbor deputies took into custody a 26-year-old Ocean Shores man. He was arrested on second degree assault, after allegedly waving a knife and threatening someone who came to his home on Duck Lake Drive (near Ozette Street). When police responded at 10:11 a.m., the resident did not answer the door, or commands to show himself. Off-duty officers and Sheriff’s Department deputies secured the area, with Chief Mike Styner commanding the operation. With a dozen law enforcement officers on the scene, a Sheriff’s K-9 unit (deputy and dog) searched the area, and found the suspect hiding in the marshy area behind the home. Dave McManus of the OSPD said he was arrested at noon, without resistance.
