The burn ban applies to OS too. You now can send your cleared materials to Jim and Peter Jordan opposite from the Post Office. They recycle it into wood chips and soil in that big yellow Toro machine. OS is only allowed recreational fire pits too. They usually are 3 feet wide with a cleared area around them. The Fire Department has information on it. You have to have a permit to have those fires too. That way they know where the recreational fires are. Call them at 289 3611
I was told that land clearing using burning of the shrubs/wood etc. was not allowed in the city of Ocean Shores by the permit office. That we would have to pay to have it hauled out and dumped offsite (to a facility inland that would burn it : ) and the wind can then bring it back out over OS, I’m tellin’ ya, that didn’t make a lot of sense to me, but that is what we were told. So, the GHC memo regarding the burn ban doesn’t seem to really apply to OS anyway, does it? Since the only type of fire they allow is recreational.
can a 55 gal drum be considered a recreational fire? the top area is less than 3 ft across.
works for me
You can hire someone with a truck or trailer to get rid of it. You can compost it. You can burn small amounts in a 3 foot wide fire pit. Remember, it now is recreational fires. Then sing: Kum bay ya, my Lord, kum bay ya; Kum bay ya, the Lord, kum bay ya; Kum bay ya, my Lord, kum bay ya, O Lord, kum bay ya. Kum bay ya, my Lord, kum bay ya; …
do like the rest of us do………..get rid of it. one little bit at a time.
OK so what should I do with yard waste?
Can’t burn it, and I have no way to haul it.
Define Recreational campfires in Ocean Shores. Enforce it? Who? Remember, we are too busy waiting for dune fires and doing EMS calls for firework injuries, drunken falls, and a whole host of other reasons.
Maybe we need to start clearing the laws that are not being enforced. Then, it will be easiser to know what everyone’s job descriptions include.
Lets start with the speed limits. Forget them. Autobahn Ocean Shores. Drift driving the roundabout is legal. Beach is open season unless you are between the signs as a pedestrian. Non-handsfree cell phone free zone.
Then we can move to the garbage issue anywhere in or outside the city. Just take it to Public Works and leave it there. The city will pick it up. If unable to do that, just leave it in the ditch out front. Storm Drain Utility will pick up every 5 years as funds allow.
What are we going to do with all those books when they close the library? I guess we can use them for winter heat at city hall.
i was thinking the same thing
Why can’t there be a burn ban for the July 4th time frame?
