From Pamm Garrett:
I know you get lots of people taking pictures of our deer in our community, but the following pictures I took on June 3rd, at 3:16 PM of a Doe who had just given birth to the fawn in our neighbor’s yard. My husband Bob and I witnessed the birth, and for the next hour, I took more video and still pictures of the fawn and Doe as they got to know each other. Picture (024) was taken when the fawn was 16 minutes old and finally took it’s first step. Picture (027) was taken 17 minutes after the birth. The fawn wanted to eat, but the Mother wanted to clean the fawn up. Moments later, the Doe laid down, and the fawn made it’s way around the mother and finally found lunch. Picture (1611) is taken two hours after the fawn was born, when it finally got a full tummy and tired to explore it’s new surroundings.
I first noticed the Doe in our neighbors yard, laying down. She wasn’t laying down normally. She had her feet sticking straight out and her head was on the ground. I went back inside our house and grabbed my camera. When I came out, she was laying more erect, which was around 2:55 PM. I went and got my husband and when we came back she was laying down again, and we could tell she was starting to give birth. As she laid down, you could tell that she was pushing, because her head would come up and she would look towards her back… then lay her head down. Her leg’s would go out straight, and then she would push again, bringing her head up and looking towards her back, then lay her head down again. Within thirty-forty seconds, she gave birth to a beautiful little fawn. She stood up once she realized the fawn was out, and starting to clean it up and take care of it, just like a mom.

Great job Pamm! I must be the only person in Ocean Shores who has not yet seen a fawn this year.
That is awesome!
