Call for weather spotters
The National Weather Service is conducting Skywarn Weather Spotter training in Pacific Beach on May 18th, hosted by the Quinault Nation and Grays Harbor County Emergency Management. The training will be held at the Pacific Beach Fire Station and run from 630 to 9 PM. It includes how the weather spotter program works, and how to look for and report significant weather events.
Skywarn weather spotters report event-driven significant weather such as strong winds, accumulating snow, heavy rain amounts, coastal flooding and much more. The training includes handout materials and video instruction and demonstrations. Anyone can participate. The minimum requirement is a phone. More weather spotters are needed in the North Coast region and the county.
Registration for the training is open now. To RSVP, contact Rich Bly of Quinault Nation Public Safety at 360-276-4405 x669 or rbly@quinault.org. Class capacity is 50, so register early.
