Roundabout ceremony
At yesterday’s Roundabout ceremony, Mayor Garland French called the new no-stop intersection, new lights and sidewalks “a giant step” toward Ocean Shores’ downtown revitalization. Brian Walsh of the Dept. of Transportation gave credit to Public Works director Ken Lanfear for getting the project done, and dubbed Ocean Shores “a one roundabout town.” Sen. Jim Hargrove (pictured, above) said “this will help the flow of traffic and be safer” in “the hub of tourism in Grays Harbor County.” Lanfear made it a point to “thank local businesses for putting up with some tough times” during construction, and promised “in the long term, it will be worth it.” He also gave credit to his department, particularly Karla Roberts, the ace grant writer. look, a pretty red ribbon………….just like os red tape and ink.
I guess that even though the city council members were the ones that approved it, that they weren’t important enough to be part of this assembly/presentation/photo-op. Were they even asked?
I wish I could have been there to be part of what will be the next great step forward for our city. Thank you Ken L. for pushing this project forward. It will only bring bigger, better, and more to our town. One day city. Tough project but at the end of the day we can all be proud. Can’t wait to get back to Shores and put on my roller blades and give the round about a spin.
