North Beach basketball victory
Three in a row for the Hyaks. From today’s Daily World:
RAYMOND — North Beach’s Joe Ray’s offense and Derek Moore’s last-minute free throws proved to be too much for the Raymond Seagulls in Pacific League play Tuesday.
Ray was the leading scorer for the Hyaks (1-2, 6-5), with 20 points. Moore, who returned to action after a leg injury, made three free throws in a row at the end to clinch the win.
“We played well in stretches, but (Joe) Ray really hurt us on the inside,” said Gull coach Mike Tully. “We were slow on defensive rotations in his area. We got two key buckets in the last 40 seconds of the first half and were fairly even in the third quarter only to lose at the end.”
Michael Lundy was the leading scorer for the Gulls (1-3, 2-7), with 13 points. Allen Phouthachack added 11.
The Gulls will host a co-ed doubleheader with Lake Quinault on Saturday. The Hyaks host Ocosta on Friday.
