Girls, boys basketball teams win
In home games last night, the North Beach High girls (3-0) and boys (2-1) basketball teams both defeated Taholah. Tres Pope with 23 and Anna Moody with 14 were the high scorers.

Hyaks 85, Chitwhins 73
OYEHUT — Tres Pope scored 23 points as North Beach took a racehorse battle with Taholah in a non-league contest Friday at Oyehut.
Both teams put the pedal to the metal in a contest that wasn’t decided until the final couple of minutes. Pope turned a couple of steals into layins as the Hyaks (2-1) pulled away in the late going.
“It was an old-fashioned shootout,” said North Beach coach Larry Moore. “The whole second half was back and forth.”
Derek Moore added 15 points and four steals, while Jason Fry had 11 points and eight boards for North Beach. Christian Pillsbury aided the Hyak cause with seven rebounds.
Taholah, meanwhile, hit a dozen 3point baskets. Elijah Miller scored 24 points and freshman Ronnie Ta dios- Ta hkeal tallied 11 for the Chitwhins (0-1).
“To come out and secore 73 our first game, everybody played awesome,”said Ta holah coach John Brings Ye llow. “It was a great game to watch, fun and exciting.”
The Chitwhins return to action tonight at Clallam Bay. North Beach makes the short trip to Hoquiam on Tu esday.

Hyaks 60, Chitwhins 20
OYEHUT — Well-balanced North Beach rolled past undermanned Ta holah in a non-league contest Friday at Oyehut.
Anna Moody was the only Hyak to score in double figures with 14 points. Tahnee McCrory had seven rebounds and six steals for North Beach (3-0).
“Our defensive pressure and depth really hurt them because they only have seven girls,” said Hyak coach Brett Mackey. “We were able to stay fresh and keep bodies rotating in and out.”
The Chitwhins (0-1) visit Clallam Bay tonight. North Beach visits Ta holah on Thursday.
